Arbitrage and a deposit to withdraw, how the YompToken scheme robs crypto traders

On the r/cryptocurrencyscams forum, an unpleasant discussion unfolded around the YompToken platform and influencer CryptoCapo_. According to user Autist24, he had been following CryptoCapo_ on X (formerly Twitter) and Telegram for a long time, until the latter offered a tempting "arbitrage opportunity" on the YompToken website. The outcome was classic: the site froze, allegedly due to a DDoS attack, and then reported that KYC had been triggered by suspicious activity. But the condition for unlocking was absurd — a deposit of $25,000 was required from the very wallet the victim planned to withdraw funds to.

The idea of paying money to earn the right to take out your own funds drew nothing but bitter laughter from commenters. According to user Ill-Fly-2027, the mere thought that this could be a legitimate requirement is simply staggering. User Icy-Juggernaut-7516 aptly noted that a "verification deposit" is a convenient invention of scammers, and technical talk about "digital transaction trails" and "80% matching" is empty chatter to create an illusion of seriousness. According to user Siwoola, he was approached with a similar scheme through another Telegram channel, but there they boldly asked for $30,000 to verify the account.

The comments quickly revealed who was behind the promotion of this scam. The main recruiter turned out to be a certain Jimmy from Telegram. According to user Low-Reputation-654, he fell for this hook a couple of days ago precisely on the advice of that same Jimmy. User Zestyclose_Twist1656 is convinced that Jimmy is the scammer himself: he shows fake successful trades to win trust, and then demands additional deposits to "rescue" the money on the exchange. According to user Low-Reputation-654, the scammer still writes to him, urging him to throw in more money to unlock the account. The author even admitted that he managed to get paid about 10 times on Jimmy's signals on the narwhalswap project before losing money on YompToken.

The post's author, user Autist24, realized his mistakes too late. According to him, the main red flags he overlooked were the low number of reactions in the Telegram chat, the low number of real followers on X, and — most suspiciously — the chat only allowed positive emojis, while regular comments were completely disabled. User UpbeatFix7299 summed up the situation simply: no rich genius is going to hand out free trading signals in messengers while promising easy money.

Unfortunately, for some users, such as AdMajestic1622, whose brother lost about 1 lakh rupees (around $1,200), there is no way back. This story is yet another harsh reminder: don't believe in arbitrage miracles from anonymous Telegram accounts, and never pay fees to withdraw your own money.
