NodEX — a girl from WhatsApp and a classic Pig Butchering scam

In the r/CryptoScams subreddit, user Jazzlike-Dealer-2017 asked the community to vet a trading site called nodex. The story is painfully familiar: his friend got a random message from a girl on WhatsApp who is now supposedly helping him trade — with calls and advice. The OP was skeptical right off the bat, even though the girl did a video call over FaceTime and they were supposedly planning to meet up in person.

Why it's a scam

The format is a carbon copy, and here's how the commenters break it down.

User Applauce explains that random women who message you first on WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, social media, or dating apps are never actually interested in helping men make money. According to him, this is a pig butchering scheme — literally slaughtering the pig: the victim gets fattened up for a long time with trust and small profits, and then everything is taken away.

He also pointed out that the domain itself has only existed for 5 months. And then comes the worst part. According to Applauce, any money the friend has already sent to the site should be considered gone. The moment he tries to withdraw a noticeable amount, an endless stream of fake withdrawal fees will come pouring in — taxes, insurance premiums, unlock fees. Textbook stuff.

User misterecho11, with his Top 1% Commenter badge, confirmed the diagnosis: it's a simple, low-cost scheme that's been circling around forever, and it's got all the basic red flags — WhatsApp, a girl giving trading and crypto advice. His advice is short and sweet: cut off contact with the scammer as soon as possible and move on with your life.

User Heyxdlmao summed it all up in one word: fake.

The video call and the promise of meeting up aren't proof of honesty — they're part of the script: that's how the victim gets convinced there's a real person behind the picture. The conclusions are grim — the site is brand new, the scheme is a recognizable classic, and the money is most likely gone for good. The only thing that actually works right now is to stop talking to the contacts from this story and not send nodex a single ruble, dollar or satoshi.
