Over on the r/CryptoScams subreddit, a user named u/meetro posted a warning about a platform called DEXGETO — and asked if anyone else had run into it. The answer is pretty obvious, but the details of the scam are worth breaking down.
The whole pitch is built on videos showing the price gap between Binance and DEXGETO. The idea is simple: buy cheap on one platform, sell high on the other, and the profits just roll in on their own. Everything looks smooth right up until the moment you try to withdraw.
And that's where the main red flag pops up. The user gets told that to get their funds out, they first need to drop an extra $200 deposit — supposedly for "AML verification." So basically: to get your own money, pay up first. Requiring a new deposit to unlock funds you've already put in is one of the most blatant signs of a crypto scam.
According to user Applauce, the site is only three weeks old, so there aren't many victims yet. But by his own account, this same scam gets posted on the subreddit every single day — just under different names and addresses. They show up, fleece people, disappear, then get reborn under a new name.
According to u/UpbeatFix7299, who's got the top 1% commenter badge, no arbitrage story can ever be legit. It's free money with zero risk — and anyone who actually knows how to make it keeps it all to themselves and stays quiet. Plus, bots snap up those price gaps within seconds. A real arbitrage trader has zero reason to blab about it on social media.
User misterecho11 pointed out that "arbitrage" plus a site with a nonsense name is always a scam. Anyone can slap together a cheap little webpage and start raking in other people's money.
And user IdeaFrequent4358 brought the juiciest argument of all. At the bottom of the DEXGETO site there's a compliance page. The date on it is earlier than the site itself even existed. And the documents name a completely different company. They faked the paperwork without even double-checking the dates.
The takeaway is simple: never send crypto to "unlock" your own withdrawal. An AML check that requires a new deposit isn't a check — it's extortion. If you see a video about easy profits off the price gap between Binance and some no-name platform — just scroll on by.
