Over on r/CryptoScams, user u/Sur-Trip7120, with a Question flair, asked for help with a site called mindchainswap. The setup is a classic — embarrassingly so: the platform is demanding $3,500 before he can withdraw his own funds, and he wants to know whether the whole withdrawal procedure might be a scam.
The answer came fast, and with receipts. User fedput, sporting a Top 1% Commenter badge, ran a WHOIS lookup on the mindchainswap.com domain and posted the data: registered August 26, 2026, expiring August 26, 2027, last updated — you guessed it — August 26. In other words, the site is barely weeks old, yet judging by the numbers on the balance, the victim had been strung along for days. According to fedput, a brand-new registration date combined with this exact scheme is a giant red flag.
User UpbeatFix7299 laid out the whole mechanism. There's nothing to withdraw: the balance showing in the account is pure fiction. The person who talked the victim into using this site is the one running it, and they simply type in whatever numbers they like. No trades ever happened, no profits ever existed. His proof is simple: any legitimate company would just deduct the $3,500 from the account balance — if that balance were real. It isn't, which is why they want cold hard cash on top.
His forecast is bleak but honest: the money's already stolen, and if you send more, the theft will continue right down to the last penny. The same scheme under different names pops up every single day.
User droplezz added a logical point worth memorizing: there's no such thing as an exchange service that makes you pay extra just to hand you back your own money. Infinite-Grade-4485 kept it short: "Scam".
A textbook case of the fake-platform con: the balance is fake, withdrawals are blocked, and unlocking them costs extra. The answer to the OP's question is yes — it's a scam, through and through, and under no circumstances should that $3,500 get paid. Whatever's already been sent to the platform is gone for good, so it's worth bracing for a wave of messages from fake rescuers. The useful rule of thumb from this thread: if someone asks you to pay for access to your own money, the money's already gone — all that's left is a counter keeping track of how much more they can squeeze out of you.
