Over on r/CryptoScams, a user called Rare-Maintenance-308 posted a warning about a Pig Butchering scam he fell for himself. A fake platform, Oidradapp, was passing itself off as the real CME Group — the American derivatives exchange — and the victim got groomed through a romance story. The outcome is ugly: down 133,835 USDC, which works out to roughly 109 thousand euros. The case dates back to October 2026.
The contact started on Facebook: a stranger going by Estrella Charles reached out to him, the chat moved over to WhatsApp, and from there they kept nudging him to invest on an exchange that seemed solid and legit at the time. He started with a small test amount and saw that everything worked: the transfers went through, the balance grew, it all looked on the up and up. After that, the money went in in chunks, again and again.
The most important detail came out in the comments. A user, UpbeatFix7299, asked point-blank: were those real transfers or just a pretty number on a screen? The author confirmed the money was his own, just not in one single payment. The fake balance had climbed past 350 grand by the end, and when he tried to withdraw it all, the platform demanded he first pay a 31% tax. And of course, the money never arrived.
According to the author, there are already at least ten victims. Another user, gorspogs, put it well in the comments: if the scammers have raked in a whole fortune from ten-plus victims, why not just call it a day and earn a living honestly instead of wrecking people's lives? It's a rhetorical question, but it captures the scale nicely: this scheme has clearly been running for a while and hitting more than one person.
The author did everything by the book: a Chainabuse report is filed — CA-2026-194848, an FBI IC3 complaint is registered, with the number trimmed down to 0b5504b8... in the post. There are no screenshots in the thread, so you're basically going on the victim's word.
Tellingly, the real CME Group knows all about these clones: the exchange has a dedicated page for reporting fraudulent sites that use its brand. The red flag is always the same one: when a withdrawal suddenly requires a tax you have to pay upfront. A real exchange never works that way. Recognize the pattern — walk away from the conversation.
