User loses $4,000 but manages to recover the funds with Binance's help

User Even-Slide3952 shared a story about how they fell for a classic task scam via Telegram and the website 9aus. At first, everything looked harmless: for simple actions like subscribing to YouTube channels, $20 was credited to their balance. But to withdraw this money, the victim was asked to make a small deposit of $50. The user was then added to a group chat where other participants (who turned out to be paid shills) actively posted proof of their successful fund withdrawals. This created the illusion of the project's legitimacy and when new deposits were allegedly required to fix "system errors", the user continued paying, eventually losing around $4,000.

In an update to the post, user Even-Slide3952 reported that they got incredibly lucky — they managed to get their money back. They quickly reached out to Binance's customer support, providing transaction hashes and proof that the scammers had transferred the stolen funds to a wallet on the exchange. According to Even-Slide3952, Binance froze the scammers' account and helped make things right. However, the author warns that this is an extremely rare case and urges victims to preserve all evidence and immediately contact the police and financial regulators.

In the comments, users discussed the red flags of this scheme. According to users axisofawsome and too_many_shoes14, there are simply no legitimate job vacancies on Telegram, and any job that requires you to pay money in order to receive your salary is a 100% scam. User AustinBike noted that the victim tried to rationalize their mistake by considering the scheme too sophisticated, which could hinder them from spotting a scam again in the future.
