BitcoinTalk forum users have exposed a new phishing scheme that operates under the guise of cryptocurrency verification services. User crypto wrote that forum member nikkoo41 is promoting an "AML Shield" service for checking wallets for AML risk. The main trap is that the site asks users to connect their Web3 wallet for the check.

According to user crypto, legitimate AML services only need a wallet's public address to work — not a full connection to it. He shared a link to a Malwarebytes article that describes in detail exactly how such fake checkers drain victim's balances.

Another obvious proof of the scam is that the domain was registered as recently as August 28, 2026, while the site's homepage claims that the service has already accumulated 312 reviews on Trustpilot with an incredible 4.8 rating.
