Withholding of User Funds During an Exchange via the Exodus Wallet and N.exchange Service

This report is based on a post by user GlebG dated April 14, 2026. The author reported a conflict with the exchange service N.exchange, which occurred when using the built-in exchange function in the Exodus wallet. According to user GlebG, on April 8, his funds amounting to over 18 ETH (approximately $40,000) were transferred to a third-party provider, after which the incoming transaction was canceled. Exodus support disclaimed responsibility for the incident, directing the customer to resolve the issue directly with N.exchange.

The exchange service initiated a KYC/AML procedure, requesting documents confirming the source of funds and access to the mining equipment. According to user GlebG, he is a legitimate miner and provided all the requested data within 20 minutes. However, after sending more than 40 emails, N.exchange support continues to ignore questions about the verification timeline and the specific reasons for the block, brushing them off with template responses. The author also noted that the company is registered in the UK but is absent from the FCA register, and refuses to clarify which jurisdiction's laws it applies to withhold the funds.

In the discussion, experienced forum members confirmed the dubious reputation of this service. According to user RGBTC, Exodus intentionally integrates unlicensed partners, and N.exchange has long had a bad reputation. According to user Zwei, the service intentionally drags out the verification process to force the user to give up on getting their funds back, while they themselves operate without licenses and ignore the law.

A significant part of the discussion is dedicated to the responsibility of the Exodus wallet itself. According to user Coyster, Exodus has been allowing its partners to deceive users with impunity for years. According to user aioc, Exodus may be interested in keeping its current partners, as it is suspected of receiving a cut of the withheld funds. User FinneysTrueVision added that Exodus selects providers solely based on the size of the affiliate commission, without warning users about who will actually perform the exchange. According to user albon, a special trust flag had already been created on the forum against the N.exchange representative due to systematic complaints about fund confiscation. Discussion participants strongly recommend abandoning the use of closed-source wallets and built-in exchangers in favor of decentralized solutions.
