A very troubling story involving the cryptocurrency exchange TorWex has unfolded on the BitcoinTalk forum. A user going by the name kight9 described how the service allegedly kept his money and then resorted to direct threats when he tried to seek justice.
According to kight9, on September 2, 2026, he created order No. 4***6 to exchange 15,000 RUB via YooMoney for Ukrainian hryvnias. The payment was made at 18:14, and TorWex's system confirmed it by sending an email with the status "Paid". The author attached a screenshot as evidence:

However, that was only the beginning. According to kight9, just a couple of dozen minutes later, the exchange suddenly required additional card verification. Its instructions were highly specific: he had to photograph the card so that the first six and last four digits were visible, while a monitor displaying the TorWex website and the order number had to appear in the background. The author followed all the instructions and submitted the photo as requested. It is important to note that he did not provide any security codes or passwords.
Instead of completing the exchange, the platform began escalating the situation. According to kight9, the order status suddenly changed to "Customer refused payment" even though the system continued to indicate that the order had been canceled by the customer himself. This directly contradicted TorWex's own confirmation that the payment had been received.
When the author began posting complaints on third-party websites, TorWex's "security department" allegedly went completely off the rails. According to kight9, they accused him of submitting a fake card photo, claimed that he was attempting to commit financial fraud, and refused to return the 15,000 rubles. Moreover, in their messages—one of which can be seen here:

the exchange allegedly began openly blackmailing the customer. They threatened to publish his personal information—including his full name, card details, IP addresses, and correspondence—on forums. They also threatened to forward the materials to cybercrime authorities and banks unless he deleted his negative reviews.
An experienced forum member commented on the situation. According to user logfiles, TorWex's website contains no information whatsoever about an operating license, which in itself is a major red flag. He initiated the creation of a trust flag against their account on BitcoinTalk.
Be extremely cautious and think twice before entrusting significant amounts of money or your financial information to unverified exchanges.
