If you thought the era of outright crypto scams was over, the BlockchainFX ($BFX) project is ready to prove you wrong. A genuine drama is unfolding on Reddit and Trustpilot right now: thousands of investors say they have been left with empty balances and blocked accounts after putting money into this platform.
The post-mortem was kicked off by user davorius, who published a detailed analysis on the r/CryptoScams forum. According to davorius, the project is a textbook rug-pull. He points out that the development team is completely anonymous, and their 12-page whitepaper looks more like an AI-generated marketing brochure than a technical document. A CertiK audit gave the project just 65 out of 100 (57.59/100 at the time of publication), while the TokenSniffer scanner rated its security a flat 0 out of 100.

The legal side raises plenty of questions too. According to user RevolutionaryAct9256 from the r/BlockDAGInvestors subreddit, the project is linked to a person implicated in other scam schemes. Their documents openly state that the tokens grant investors no rights, are non-refundable and have no intrinsic value, and that the company can cancel a purchase at any time. What's more, according to user MonkeyOnATypewriter8, the team accidentally resold the bonus tokens and then simply increased the total supply to sell them again. The technical picture is just as dismal: the standard "Create React App Sample" placeholder is still visible in the site's code.
But the most interesting part began when it came time to withdraw the purchased tokens. Reviews on Trustpilot paint a picture of classic funds blocking. According to user Leo Wong, the BFX smart contract physically lacks a "Claim" function (for receiving tokens). This means the team has to send tokens to investors manually — which makes the process impossible.
User David Wood adds that on August 31, 2026, the team announced it was adding liquidity, but in reality it is simply dragging the process out, since adding liquidity takes seconds. By his estimate, the project has siphoned $15 million out of the pockets of 27,000 people this way.
When investors started asking questions, BlockchainFX went on the offensive. According to user paul Q, he was permanently banned from the official Telegram chat for asking which countries the platform operates in. User Ollie confirmed that he was also removed from the chat for asking about the tokens. And according to user Andy Mangan, all the tokens he had bought simply vanished from his dashboard, and support demanded that he top up a Trust Wallet for their "recovery".
The situation borders on the absurd: according to user Brian Furr, support began sending victims links to phishing sites where they are asked to enter their seed phrase to "validate the wallet" — an attempt to steal whatever funds they have left. User Kevin Brown separately noted that the company uses a fake AOFA license to create the appearance of legality.
In the comments under the original source, people make no attempt to hide their bitterness. According to user greeable-Log-1302, his account balance was simply wiped to zero. User Educational-Elk4137 says he lost thousands of dollars not only in BFX but also in the related projects Magacoin and Digitap, and wonders why scams like these keep getting advertised on major platforms such as X (formerly Twitter).
If you have already fallen victim, keep all screenshots and correspondence so you can file complaints with the regulators.
