In the r/Scams community, user UnlikelyProblem666 warned about the revival of a cruel scam scheme aimed at raising funds for the treatment of children with cancer. Previously, this scheme was known under the name Chance Letikva and was exposed by the BBC, but now the scammers have rebranded to Wonder'n'Wish.
According to user UnlikelyProblem666, the scammers use Facebook to display heart-wrenching videos of sick children to trick gullible citizens into making donations, after which they pocket the money. In the Facebook Ad Library, the scammers are running the exact same videos of children, only changing their names and the localization languages.
According to user RacerX200, this operation is a direct clone of previous criminal fundraising schemes disguised as charity. User gingerninja398 recommended complaining about such fake organizations to the UK Charity Commission and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The author of the post themselves has already filed complaints with Action Fraud and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), but expressed disappointment that the social network Facebook continues to run these ads for its own profit.
