A User Deception Scheme on an SMS Activation Platform

This report is based on a post by the user Mask dated August 9, 2026. The material describes a discovered fraudulent scheme (scam) designed to mislead clients into topping up their balances and to inflate the cost of services.

According to user Mask, the core of the issue lies in the artificial distortion of information regarding the pricing and availability of virtual numbers for receiving SMS. The platform displays attractive rates; however, making an actual purchase at the advertised price becomes impossible immediately after the account is funded.

As an example, the author cites an attempt to purchase a Moldovan number for Telegram, the advertised price of which started at $0.426. After seeing this price, the user topped up their balance with the minimum required amount and attempted to make the purchase. At this point, the system returned a message stating that there were no available routes, and the offer at that price disappeared from the list. According to user Mask, an identical situation occurred consecutively when selecting numbers from other countries: Kazakhstan and Israel. Specifically, for Israel, the availability column initially displayed 30,000 available numbers, yet they instantly became unavailable upon attempting to purchase.

Special attention in the report is given to the initial test purchase, which was the very reason for the investigation. As user Mask notes, the original goal was to buy a French number, the cost of which also started at $0.426. After the lowest-priced offer vanished, the system presented numbers at higher rates: $0.50, $0.80, $1.20, and so forth. Each time the "buy" button was pressed, the offer was canceled. This cycle continued until the price reached $1.534.

In their publication, the author draws an unequivocal conclusion: it is impossible to purchase a number at the price initially advertised on the website. Displaying a large number of available numbers at a low price serves merely as bait to trick users into topping up their balances. As user Mask emphasizes, any further price increase becomes completely pointless, since for over $2 on the open market, one can already buy a ready-made portable account.

The service's operations, following the described algorithm, are qualified by the author as direct deception.
